Easter Fair

By Paul, 06/03/2017 11:49 am

This coming Easter Sunday, after a year off last year due to the roadworks (now just a distant memory) we are preparing for the return of our ever popular Easter Fair. This year we hope to make it bigger and better that ever! With more local crafts people displaying their wares plus some additional refreshments including cakes, Pizza and other hot food plus teas and coffees.  Meadow Forge are booked to bring their mobile forge along as well as crafts ranging from pottery, woodcraft, felting, lavender products, jewellery, illustrations, textiles and more. This year to add to the atmosphere we have a vintage DJ spinning old 78rpm records on wind-up gramophones. So save the date in your diary, Sunday 16th April entry is FREE so come along and have some fun and support local crafts. All our usual plants, pots, composts and sundries will be available including our range of tub & basket plants. This year we will also be joined by the Culmstock Chilli Company who are passionate about growing Chilli plants so this year is sure to be Hot, Hot, Hot! Keep an eye on our blog, Twitter and Facebook page for all the latest news.

Devon Grown Christmas Trees

By Paul, 04/12/2016 12:48 pm

Our selection of fresh-cut, Devon grown Christmas trees are now available. And there are, as usual a great selection of either Norman Fir (non-drop) or Traditional Norway Spruce to choose from. Being Devon grown means that they are super fresh having not been transported large distances crammed tightly into crates. Their quality and freshness means that they will last well through the festive period! To get the best from them we recommend cutting 3cm off the bottom and standing in a bucket of clean water for 24 hours before bring into the house. Trees will also last best if the stand used to display them holds water too. Remember to top it up regularly but be careful of water near any electrics!

We also have a selection of pot grown Christmas trees for those who want a smaller tree that they can plant out in the garden after the festive season. Don’t leave it too late, if you like we can look after your chosen tree until you are ready to take it. We are also able to deliver trees locally, contact us for details.

More A396 Off-Peak Road Closures

By Paul, 03/05/2016 8:07 am

Today sees the start of the final set of off-peak road closures for the section of the A396 between ourselves and the Exeter Inn towards Bampton. The road will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm daily. Closures are due to continue until the May 13th. I am assured by the contractors that the road will be open on Sunday unless they encounter problems. This is the final stage of the works and hopefully after May 13th we can all get back to normal. The A396 from Tiverton to us as usual remains fully open. To help with access we will again be opening until 7pm in the evening on all days where off-peak closures occur.
